PhotoArtDoc’24 winners' exhibition in Vilnius

The exhibition of the winners of the competition program of the international photography festival PhotoArtDoc’24 is available until January 20, 2025 in Vilnius.

The PhotoArtDoc festival was initiated by the community of Belarusian photographers and was held for the first time in 2024. The project combines photography at the intersection of documentary and art. This approach goes beyond capturing events or beauty, and turns photography into a tool to comprehend contemporary society, its phenomena and trends.

The festival program included two parts: educational and competitive.

The educational program of the festival is designed to preserve the potential and give an impetus to the development of Belarusian photography in difficult times. The main goal is to promote Belarusian photography in the European space, preserve visual heritage and contribute to the development of modern photographic culture in Belarus.

During four months, 38 Belarusian photographers under the guidance of mentors Sergei Gudilin, Katerina Kuzmicheva and Tatiana Tkacheva worked on creating projects where photography was the main medium. These works were evaluated in a separate, closed nomination, the jury of which was composed of Belarusian curators and art critics.

The second, open nomination of the competition is international, as a confirmation that culture and art have no borders. 230 projects from authors from 40 countries were submitted to the contest in the open nomination.

The exhibition presents projects selected by two panels of jurors in two categories: closed and open.
