PHOTO FESTIVAL
OPEN CONTEST

PhotoArtDoc photography festival

PhotoArtDoc opens the call for submissions from photographers and artists working with photography. Authors from all over the world are welcome to participate.

The theme of the 2024 open call is ONE'S PLACE.

Throughout human history, the movement of people has been an integral part of civilization. Whether due to forced displacement from conflicts and disasters or a voluntary quest for a new beginning, changing one's place of residence inevitably affects our identity and self-perception. Sometimes, even when we remain physically in one place, we can feel like strangers, losing our sense of belonging. In today's world, this topic is especially relevant in light of issues of identity and self-determination, and the search for one's place on different scales - from the family circle and local community to the more global levels of society and the world.

PhotoArtDoc invites photographers and artists working with photography to participate in a photographic projects' contest reflecting the proposed theme. The scope for interpretations and authorial expression is very broad. "One's place" encompasses all levels, from physical space and social environment to the inner sense of self in the world.

The basis of the visual content for the project should be photography. Authors may use montage, collage, multiple exposures, and other methods of image transformation. In the accompanying text, the author will need to describe the processes and methods used to create the project.

The winners will be chosen by a competent international jury.

In the first stage, the jury will shortlist up to 10 photo projects.
From the shortlisted projects, the winners will be selected with the allocation of places 1, 2 and 3.

WHAT WINNERS GET

- the winner's photo project (1st place in the open category) will be presented at the exhibition in Vilnius
- The photo projects that won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the open category will be included in the final zine PhotoArtDoc 2024.
